Dr. Herod and his team are truly exceptional! From the moment you walk in, his friendly staff make you feel welcome and comfortable. His hygienists are skilled and gentle, and Dr. Herod himself is an excellent listener who takes the time to explain procedures in detail. He’s always in full compliance with industry standards, and you can tell he genuinely cares about his patients’ health and comfort. I really appreciate the patient education he provides—complete with helpful product recommendations—and his ever-present smile makes every visit a pleasant one.  He is a joy to visit! I've been seeing Dr. Herod for a number of years (at least 7).  This practice is TOP NOTCH - always on time, very patient, they explain what happening during the procedure (two crowns, refilled old cavities, Invisalign braces, and routine cleanings). Couldn’t recommend Dr. Herod and this practice more!! They are so kind and personable here, each person working there makes sure to take the time to explain things in detail. They aren’t just trying to have you come in and out, instead you can tell they go above and beyond to really figure things out. They are a dentistry that cares about the person which is hard to find at dentists nowadays. I used to have the worst dental anxiety and had trouble finding a good holistically leaning dentist here in Richmond. This all changed with Dr. Herod and this office, I know when I go there i’m going to be told the truth and my teeth will be taken care of properly. We recently switched to Dr. Herod, because we wanted to find a more holistic dentist for our two toddlers. We took them for their first appointment and had such a wonderful experience. Dr. Herod and his hygienist were so friendly and took time to educate us about how to best support our kids' oral health. They made our kids feel comfortable and didn't pressure them into doing anything they didn't want to do. They let them pick out toys from the treasure box at the end of the visit and sent them with goody bags of a new toothbrush, nontoxic toothpaste, and floss. A few days later, we got a hand-written card in the mail from Dr. Herod, addressed to our kids, saying how proud he was of them. I’m incredibly grateful for finding Dr. Herod and his office. I’ve never felt so confident about my teeth and overall oral health. Everyone is so friendly and personable. Dr Herod is compassionate and truly the best at what he does. I’ve also seen another dentist in the office and he was fantastic as well! I felt compelled to leave a review with my experience with this office and Dr. Herod. I don’t usually leave reviews, which is very hypocritical of me, because I check reviews on every single practice and doctor before I decide to go there 😅. I have dental anxiety, something fierce. And I also like a dentist that isn’t pushy about things I don’t necessarily agree with or want to use. However, this office has  been amazing. From me scheduling an appt, to Herod calling me to introduce himself and listen to my goals and what I do and don’t want from a dentist office, it’s all been mind blowing. They worked me in early, because I found what looked like a cavity to me on my two front teeth from Invisalign, but they actually said it was staining. Didn’t make me feel silly or anything. Then they were able to work me in early for a cleaning as well, which was 8-10 months over due and Ester was the best hygienist! I did not have anxiety anymore after about 5 minutes into the appointment because my wants were heard AND respected. Which is actually hard to come by in healthcare. I literally feel like a brand new woman with my cleaning. And think I have found my new dental home :) also sorry if I spelled anyone’s name wrong. I’m the worst. Thanks guys! I tried 2 other dentists before finding Dr. Herod, and I cannot recommend him enough! I had a molar with an old amalgam filling and another molar with a composite filling from previous dentists, and although I keep my teeth very clean, both teeth were breaking down with time. I worried about the safety of removing an amalgam filling, so I had been looking for a dentist who truly understands and practices the safe mercury amalgam removal technique (SMART), and someone who would answer my questions about his dental approach and my overall health. We called his office with these questions and Dr. Herod personally called us back. Dr. Herod listened to our concerns and took the time to provide education and guidance before we made a decision on conservative treatment, helping me to get my teeth looking beautiful and feeling new again, while removing as little enamel as possible. Dr. Herod and his team worked with us to get scheduled quickly, and he called me after my procedure to check that I was doing well. That is fantastic customer experience!
